Proven Leadership. Real Answers.
It isn't often that voters are presented with real answers to the
complex questions of of government - or clear choices in candidates.
But on June 9th, when Bill Smitherman launched his campaign for
Pierce County Council Position Four, voters were given a clear choice.
Bill Smitherman brings eight years of experience in public office
and more than 20 years in other arenas of public service including
teaching at Jason Lee Middle School and University of Puget Sound,
community development in Tacoma's Hilltop neighborhood, and budgeting
and systems analysis for City of Tacoma. His success as a State
Representative and State Senator has inspired Former Governor Booth
Gardner, Senator Lorraine WojahnWA State Farm Bureau PAC, and Tacoma
Carol Baarsma to join his growing list of endorsements.
Bill Smitherman's experience in so many facets of community life has helped develop his vision of co-operation - only by bringing the many levels of local government together with community groups and individuals can we address the challenges of the future in Puget Sound.
Yet, Bill Smitherman's vision is also a practical one, with proven results. He has fought to deliver job training, economic development, improved education, fiscal responsibility for government, the new, advanced University of Washington, Tacoma campus, and led many initiatives to protect nature and the quality of life here in Pierce County.
"It's important for me to meet the people of this district face to face," says Smitherman. "Sometimes, people don't feel that the Pierce County Council plays a meaningful role in ther daily lives. We can only make an impact by making sure our policies represent the needs and views of the people we're here to serve."
Bill Smitherman is serving notice that the citizens of Pierce County deserve
officials who will be accessible to answer their questions and address
their concerns. Bill Smitherman offers proven leadership and real
answers and looks forward to the opportunity to address your concerns.
